To maintain our high standards we can only breed a limited number of each species, each year and these are all sold on a first come, first served basis. However, we start to take orders for the most popular breeds in January and usually have a pre-order list in place. This does not always guarantee availability but your details will be put in our orderbook and you will be contacted as soon as they are available. Depending on the breed and/or quantity, a non refundable deposit may be required.
We recommend collecting birds directly from our farm wherever possible. It will give you a chance to see the birds in full health, in there natural environment and if stock allows, you will be able to pick your own.
If collection is not possible we do offer delivery by several couriers within the North & South of Ireland and occasionally to the UK.
All birds are fully inspected before going to there new homes. If there is any reason to doubt they are in anything but full health they will not be sold and we are extremely strict with this policy. There are no replacements or refunds for live birds. Depending on the age or time of year they will be wormed or if due to be wormed you will be made aware of this.
As eggs are a natural product that we have little control over, there will always be a number of eggs that will not be fertile produced by even the best stock. However we believe it is fair to offer a fertility guarantee of at least 50% with eggs collected from our premises. The eggs must be candled at 5-7 days and brought back to us within 10 days to be checked by ourselves. A refund can not be processed but replacements will be provided as soon as available. You will need to provide details of the incubator and incubation settings used and be prepared to calibrate the incubator with a glass thermometer. This will help us troubleshoot the problem and help prevent a further issue if the problem is the equipment. We will genuinely help as much as we can as we want you to be successful!
Regarding posted eggs, we guarantee a safe arrival. We have sent 1000s of eggs through the post and reported breakages are still in single figures but if this unfortunately happens a refund can be arranged. A photo must be sent of the broken egg within 24hours of delivery with the 'Alexs birds' logo showing. A refund will be processed to cover the cost of the damaged egg/eggs within 48 hours. Unfortunately we can not offer any guarantee on fertility or hatch rates for posted eggs and refunds or replacement can not be processed under any circumstances as there are just too many factors to consider. With experience of buying many eggs through the postal system over the years and without going into too much detail, there is one main fact we have realised. If the airspace becomes fully detached and disperses into tiny bubbles during transit, it will not develop under any circumstances.
As well as ourselves, there is only one other person we know of in Northern Ireland who has a legitimate business in this sector. Our electricity and feed costs are substantial and are continually rising but we always try to price items and stock as realistic as possible. This will depend on many factors, age and quality for example. We reserve the right to raise or lower prices throughout the season to coincide with availability or demand.
Payments can be made via Bank Transfer, Paypal, Revolut, Cash through the post or on collection
